When we talk about the word color, we remember the colorful elements of nature and the world around us, and we understand that our life is full of colorful effects in all aspects, and because of the light that is the most important factor to recognizing color, color has a clear meaning in the human eye.
And perhaps one of the main factors of visual communication in all works of artists can be considered the color and how to use it. Certainly, theoretical knowledge of color and its effect does not mean the ability to use a successful and creative color by an artist, and success in creating a work of art depends not only on the highest talent but also on the artist’s ability to use existing tools. Artist in addition to recognizing and using color materials, must have a deep understanding of the concept of the color phenomenon.
Colors can be distinguished based on three characteristics, which allow the human eyes to better understand the relationships and effects of colors.
The main colors include red, blue, and yellow, which will not come from any color combination and are placed in the center of the color cycle as an equilateral triangle. The most famous reds are cadmium red and alizarin red, none of which are considered original red, but their combination is close to the original red.
The most famous blue colors are Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Blue and Process Blue, none of which are original blue, but with a little lightening, cobalt blue and ultramarine can be Approaching to the original blue.
And among the yellow colors, cadmium yellow is one of the most widely used colors, that the medium color of it is used the most.
In the color cycle, after the main colors, there are secondary colors, and in the three corners of the equilateral triangle, they are on the color cycle. From the combination of each pair, a second color is obtained from the main colors. These colors should be combined in such a way that there is no desire for one more color. The combination of yellow and red turns orange, the combination of red and blue turns purple, and the combination of blue and yellow turns green.
color grade three is a combination of the original color and the second color Blue-purple, yellow-orange, purple-red,Red-orange, and green-blue. These colors are placed in the color wheel after the secondary colors.
The combination of colors
The blackest colors are velvet and the whitest colors are barite sulfate, and between these two there are countless shades of gray. The gray color is obtained either from a combination of black and white or from a combination of complementary colors (yellow and purple), (blue and orange) (green and red).
The feeling of cold and warm colors is due to their proximity to other colors or background colors. Normally, yellow, red, and orange are some of the warmest combinations, and green and blue are the coldest. And among these compounds, green-blue is the coldest color and orange-red is the warmest color. But sometimes a warm color is cold when placed next to a warmer color, and a cold color is considered a warm color among the colder colors.
Those who have traveled in nature, if they pay close attention to Iranian paintings, will realize that the colors in Iranian paintings exist in nature, and the use of colors and their construction is ultimately a delicacy and a mystical and divine spirit. It has also affected it. As in the composition of their works, they have used yellow as a triangle, which is a symbol of endurance and stability, and a sign of reason and thinking, and they have used red as a square, rectangle, trapezoid, and so on.
Red, brown, and orange colors are signs of vitality and life, and blue, green, purple, and other colors are in the form of circles and ivy-like movements, indicating completeness and freedom in their artwork . This method of painting is evident in the works of artists such as Kamaluddin Behzad, Sultan Mohammad and Mirk Heravi.
Two golden and silver colors from the time of Mani and Manavian found their way into Iranian art. By using these two colors, the artists have given new life to the sky, the sea and the water in their work, in order to prove the divine spirit of Iranian painting by releasing light.
In general, in Iranian painting, two types of physical and mental colors are used. Physical and opaque colors are used for substructure and painting of clothes and work backgrounds, and mental and transparent colors are used for the construction and engraving and processing machines be.
Mineral dyes such as azure, vermilion, verdigris, ocher etc. are used to make physical dyes. But today, ready-made gouache colors are used. The special feature of this type of paint is its coverage due to its high concentration.
